Our story

Two people, a lot of tea, and a shelf that kept filling up.

Mitti Tales is a husband-and-wife team in Bengaluru. It started with a few mugs we couldn’t stop buying for ourselves, and friends who kept asking where they came from.

Where the pieces come from

We don’t make these pieces ourselves. We choose them from a ceramics maker whose glazes we fell for: fluted mugs with a rim that runs down the ribs, leaf platters with the veins moulded into the clay, lotus platters that look as good on a shelf as on a table. Reactive glazes move in the kiln, so the drips and speckles are a little different on every piece. We think that’s the good part.

Why we sell the slow way

We sell in three simple places: at weekend stalls inside apartment communities, on Instagram, and over WhatsApp. There’s a cart on this site to help you put an order together, but no faceless checkout: sharing it sends the list to us on WhatsApp. We’d rather have a short conversation with you — confirm the pieces, the colours and how they reach you — than take a payment blind.

What you can count on

  • Two real people

A husband-and-wife team in Bengaluru. When you message, you reach us — not a call centre.

  • We meet you in person

Most of our customers have already held our pieces at an apartment stall before they order.

  • Every order is a conversation

We confirm the pieces, the colours, the price and the delivery with you on WhatsApp before anything is paid.

This website, honestly

Most people who find this page have already met us at a stall or seen us on Instagram, and just want to check we’re real before sending a message. We are. If you’ve read this far, the easiest next step is to say hello.
